Bandit: Plane Spotter

Bandit — Terms of Service

Last updated: 12 October 2026

These terms are between you and Bandit: Plane Spotter, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia ("we", "us") for Bandit: Plane Spotter ("Bandit", "the app"). By installing or using Bandit you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

Who can use Bandit

You must be at least 13 to use Bandit, with or without an account. If you are under 18, you may use Bandit only with a parent or guardian's permission, and a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you. Where the law of the place you live sets an older age for creating an account online, you must meet it. Do not use Bandit if you have previously been removed from it.

The service

Bandit is an entertainment game that uses your phone's sensors and third-party aviation data to help identify aircraft. Aircraft positions, identities, routes, rarity and availability can be incomplete, delayed or wrong. Do not use Bandit for navigation, safety, security, emergency response, flight tracking you rely on, or any operational aviation decision.

Using it safely and lawfully

You are responsible for how and where you use the camera and location features. Look up from your phone: stay aware of traffic, other people and your surroundings, and never use Bandit while driving or in a place where it is unsafe. Obey the law and the rules of the place you are in. In particular:

Bandit is a game. A "capture" is a score in the game, not proof of anything.

Accounts and conduct

An account is optional. Give accurate information and keep your password secret; you are responsible for activity on your account. Your display name, squad name and anything else you make visible to others must be lawful and must not impersonate anyone, be offensive, sexual, hateful or threatening, harass anyone, reveal someone's private information or infringe anyone's rights. Do not cheat: no automation, modified apps, falsified location, sensor or camera input, exploiting bugs or interfering with the service, rankings or other players. Do not try to access other people's data or probe, attack or overload our systems or the third-party services Bandit relies on.

We may remove or change a display name, content or an account, reset or adjust scores, progress or in-game items, or restrict or end access, if we believe you have broken these terms or put others or the service at risk. Global rankings and squad scores are game features based on data your phone reports and are not verified results. Do not use them for wagers, prizes or decisions with financial or legal consequences.

To report a person, a display name or content, use Report player on their profile (or email banditplanespotter@gmail.com). You can also block a player there. We aim to look at reports within a day or two and may remove content, names or accounts as a result.

In-game items have no real-world value

Cash, XP, cards, crates, boosters, binder skins, grading and other in-game items are earned by playing. They cannot be bought with real money, sold, traded, transferred or cashed out, have no monetary value, and are a limited licence to use inside the game, not property. Cards cannot be traded or given between players. We may adjust game balance, odds, prices, rewards and rarity at any time, and may rebalance or remove items, and where we remove a paid-for item we will refund its in-game cost. Crate odds are shown before you open one.

Your content

You keep ownership of the photographs, notes and other content you create ("your content"). So that Bandit can work, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, back up, copy, resize, reformat, display and transmit your content for the sole purpose of running the app for you: to back it up and restore it, to show it to the people you choose to share it with (friends and squad members, only while Binder sharing is on), and to show your display name, scores and statistics on rankings and profiles. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in routine backups until they are overwritten and copies that other people have already saved.

You promise that you own your content or have the right to use it and share it, that it is lawful, and that it does not infringe anyone's rights or show people in a way that breaches their privacy. Do not upload or share illegal, abusive or infringing material. We may remove content that breaks these terms.

Third-party data, names and images

Bandit shows information from third-party services, including ADSB.lol, adsb.fi, adsbdb.com, planespotters.net, Mapbox, OpenStreetMap contributors and FlightAware, each under its own terms. Aircraft photographs from planespotters.net belong to their photographers and are shown with credit; map imagery belongs to its providers. You may not copy or resell this information from the app.

Aircraft, manufacturer, airline, airport and country names, logos and designs are the property of their owners and are used only to identify real aircraft and operators. Bandit is an independent game and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any airline, aircraft or engine manufacturer, airport, air-traffic or aviation authority, or any of the services named above. Card artwork and aircraft illustrations in the game are stylised and are not official depictions.

Our rights

The app, including its software, design, artwork, sounds, text, card designs and aircraft catalogue (but not your content or third-party material), belongs to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control for your own non-commercial use. Do not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, decompile or extract it except as the law allows, and do not use it to build a competing service. If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.

If you think something in Bandit infringes your copyright or other rights, email banditplanespotter@gmail.com with the details (what, where it appears and why it is yours) and we will look at it promptly.

Availability, changes and ending

Cloud backup, rankings, squads, public aviation feeds and identification services may be unavailable or may change, and we may change, suspend or stop any part of Bandit, including the cloud features, with reasonable notice where we can give it. Keep your own copies of photographs you care about.

You can stop using Bandit at any time, and you can delete your account in the app (Account › Delete account). Instructions, including how to ask by email, are at https://ax3e.github.io/planespotter-privacy/delete-account.html. We may update these terms; the new version and date will be published at the same address, and for material changes we will take reasonable steps to tell you before they apply. Using Bandit after a change means you accept it.

Disclaimers and liability

Bandit is a free game and is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that aircraft information will be accurate, or that your progress will never be lost. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded, including the consumer guarantees. Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for loss of data or progress, or for loss that results from your use of the app in an unsafe or unlawful way.

Apple and Google

If you downloaded Bandit from the Apple App Store, you and we agree that these terms are between you and us only, not Apple, and that: Apple is not responsible for Bandit or its content, maintenance or support, or for any claim about it (including product liability, legal compliance, consumer protection or intellectual property); if Bandit fails to meet a warranty, you can tell Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (Bandit is free, so there is none), and Apple has no other warranty obligation; Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and can enforce them against you; and you are not in a country subject to a US embargo or on a US list of prohibited parties. Apple's standard licensed-application end-user terms also apply to the extent they do not conflict with these terms. If you downloaded Bandit from Google Play, Google Play's terms apply to your download.

Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts, without limiting any mandatory consumer-protection law of the place you live. If a part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
